Hats are used as a protection against
natural elements or during ceremonies or as a status symbol and the major
advantage being the protection against the UV rays of the sun that causes skin
cancer. Though there are various styles available, Bill Conner’s original
design and construction method is renowned for its quality and stylish design
that has revolutionize Australian Hats
industry.
His first hat design was derived from the
original outback hat design and designed it with highly durable steer hide by
inserting high tensile fencing wire into the brim of the leather hat. The major
advantage of this hat is that it conforms to the head of the person who wears
it and becomes more and more comfortable with age. This was started to be
called as Australian Hats.
These hats became the widest choice among
the consumers all over Australia and through the World Expo, the design became
internationally renowned. These hats are made of two finishes. The one being
rough side out (suede) is available in six colors and the second one being
smooth side out (waxed and oiled) guards against the elements and available in
three earth colours. These hats get fitted with a comfortable soft suede sweat
band and provide great UV protection with the wide brim.
Western
Hats or otherwise called as cowboy hats is a high
crowned, wide brimmed hat that was originally worn by the North American
cowboy. Western Hats or cowboy hats
were also worn as a symbol of their profession. Today, these hats are worn by
both men and women all over North America. It is always recognised all over the
world as Cowboy hats. In the modern times, the shape of a cowboy hats’ crown
and brim is modified for fashion or for protecting the wearer against the
weather. This could be worn in any part of the world and immediately recognised
as Cowboy Hats or Western Hats.
Studies show that wearing Hats in all the
season has helped in reducing the skin cancer. Since, Australia had set up
certain standards for these hats in 1994 itself Australian Hats become the imperative piece of attire.
